changed battery now wont start

hi.can anyone help.have the renault espace auto 1998,drove fine that night,went to use in the morning flat battery.got a new one,put it on,turned the key it started and ran for about 6 seconds and not started since,anybody got an idea would is wrong.i do know the fuel cut off is ok it still works.thanks

souds like your altenater not working..you can take it to a parts store and get it checked for free. and it don't have to be taken off either.good luck.
