1992 SL 1.9L SOHC No Fuel
So as the title says I have a 92 SL 1.9l SOHC. I am not getting any fuel from the fuel pump. They pump is tested good for sure (brand new). The relay in the fuse block in the car is good (also swapped with a good one just to test). All fuses both in the car and under the hood are good.
I tested the leads to the fuel pump with a volt meter and they all read no voltage. The last time before it start it would bog badly on acceleration. I go home when to go out again and no start. I jumped the computer and got no codes from it. It just blinked the code 12 diagnostic mode code several times. What could cause this problem, just all of the sudden like this? Pressure regulator? Any insight is greatly appreciated. thanks in advance. |

Re: 1992 SL 1.9L SOHC No Fuel
The fact that you have no power at the pump but the relays and fuses both inside the car in under the hood are good indicates theres a wiring issue bewtween the inside fuse box and the pump. There is a connection in side the trunk on the drivers side where the pump connects to the harness. When replacing the pump the connector may not have been properly seated.

Re: 1992 SL 1.9L SOHC No Fuel
In my trouble shooting I unplugged and re plugged in all connectors in the trunk.
On the documentation that the pump came with it indicated that a defective oil pressure switch may cause the pump to be inactive. Could this be the problem and where would that switch be located? |

Re: 1992 SL 1.9L SOHC No Fuel
The documentation that came with your pump is generic information. It doesn't apply here. You have a wiring issue. Try jiggling the fuel pump relay with the key on. Could be a bad connection there. Check to be sure the relay is getting power when you turn on the key. If it is, and the relay is working, your problem is between the relay and the pump. If it's not getting power, you problem is before the relay.

Have you done the tests in the videos? That will tell you exactly where the wire issue is occuring

Re: 1992 SL 1.9L SOHC No Fuel
From test video. Power at last connector before pump. #87 on the relay has power when key is on. I have not had a chance to test the fuse but it must work as I was trying to jump the relay to force the pump on and put a wire in the wrong spot and blew the fuse. So it must be a wire fault between the fuse and the pump. Which way do the wires run back to the pump.
It seems that it runs under the center console then over to the drivers side under the seat then to the back. Under the centre console the is a small black box that has trw on it. what is that for. It clicks when I shut the key off. |
