94 quest no ac front or back

Hi all, nothing like July heat with four kids in the car and a broken AC

I've posted this in the mercury forum also since they are the same car. That way if someone comes up with the same problem hopefully I'll find a solution and post it in both.

My AC is not blowing any air from the front nor back. My wife said she saw a few tendrils of smoke come from the front vents and the AC hasn't worked since. I've checked all the fuses and they check out. When I turn the ac on the compressor does kick in but no air comes out.

Has anyone ran into such a problem? I know about the rear AC problem and actually re soldered it a year ago. I doubled checked it today and the solder still looks good. Could it be the front blower? I'd think the rear would still work though.

Any suggestions appreciated.

Re: 94 quest no ac front or back

hi, i don't know if this will help you, but last year i had a simular problem with our 96 villager. after tring new motors i found that there was a short in the front control switch, and no power was getting to either motor. i found it when i started probing the wires in the dash, once i pulled the switch out and repaired the wires it seems to work fine, except the unit keeps loosing the refrigerant charge, and we have not located that leak yet

I have a FSM and I'll check that out this sunday and report back. I think we too are loosing refrigerant. Time to pull out the good ol multimeter.

I've checked my blower by hooking it up to 12v( directly to mybattery) and the front blower works. I've looked at the front blower motor resister and it looks fine.

Now when you say "short in the front control switch: are you talking about the unit in the dash that you turn the ac on with? DO you have any specifics for me to check?

The reason why I ask is we have a fan controller but the ac turns on, at least in my van, by clicking one of the vent buttons and the ac button itself. So I'm just wondering where exactly I need to look.

Oh why couldn't it had just been a fuse?
