How do you reset the pcm?

I just did a tune up on my girlfriends 02 Grand Am GT and I wanted to reset the computer. Is it possible on this car and if so, how do you do it? I also cleaned the MAF sensor, T-Body, and IAC. The car idles at a constant 600rpm and the needle doesn't even bounce. I'm still experiencing a roughness or vibration from the engine though. The car only has 50k miles on it. I used to reset the pcm on my Trans Am anytime I did a modification or messed with any sensors so that the computer would relearn everything. I'm sure this car will adjust everything by itself but I just wondered if there was a way to reset the computer manually without any scan tools or anything. Also, if I disconnect the battery, will the theftlock on the radio be affected because I don't have the code and driving without a radio for a couple days will really stink. Thanks in advance...

Re: How do you reset the pcm?

You really can't reset the computer. If the CEL is on you can clear the code with a scan tool or code reader. Pulling the battery cable will not clear a light but will clear any of the learned values in the computer and set it back to stock values. As for the radio you shouldn't have any issues especially since the radio isn't locked at the present time.

Re: How do you reset the pcm?

Thanks. I had an 02 Trans Am and when I would reset the computer, I would turn the key to the on position(but don't start the car), then I would pull the pcm batt and the pcm ign fuses, wait a minute or so then turn the key off and put the fuses back in. The car would run a little rough until it relearns itself and it cleared my service light. I just tried it on the Grand Am and i'm going to drive it for about 50 miles or so and see how it runs after that.
