Cat or no Cat?
Hey fellas, I have a s-10 with the 2.2 4 banger. I have done alll the regular tune up stuff and I am installing one of the cold air intakes soon as it arrives. The converter was cut off when I got the truck. I know this will cause me to loose some back pressure, but would it be better to leave it off or go with a performance converter? The little 2.2 is a dog. It has the stock muffler. What do yall think?

Re: Cat or no Cat?
I would install a performance converter, the engine will run better with a converter and it will keep your truck legal. Since your adding an intake, you might want to think about a performance muffler also. Your correct the 2.2 is slow to say the least but a high flow cat along with an intake and performance muffler will help to make the truck more efficient.

Re: Cat or no Cat?
I would put a performance Cat on it cuz it will all work better and while u r down there i would get a whole aftermarket exhaust system if u can afford it.. just helpin the engine breathe better will boost your horsepower more than you think

Re: Cat or no Cat?
I agree a cat will be better. My 97 4x4 Blazer has the cat with a straight through stainless steel muffler. Removing the stock muffer took about 50# of weight off plus upped the performance & mileage.
