leak in hose going to rear air???
I noticed a green fluid leaking onto the tailpipe (right at the end on the tip) So I looked up and noticed their are two lines going up into the floor on the passenger side. Would this be the rear A/C? It appears their is a crimped connection (threaded) on end of rubber hose that screws into?
Any help greatly appreciated... |

Re: leak in hose going to rear air???
Hi, please post model and year.
Green fluid should be antifreeze for the rear heater in an old body style. Take care, Eggert

Re: leak in hose going to rear air???
Hi,
I would be very surprised if you had rear air without rear heat. How about if you run the engine, turn up the rear heat and A/C. Then feel the pipe/hose. It is antfreeze if it is hot and A/C if it is cold. Please post on what you find out. The repair procedure for the new body style calls for sectional repair, that is less expensive than changing a whole pipe. May be not too expensive at the repair shop. Take care, Eggert

Actually, I found out I only have rear air. The leak is coming fro the connector that screws into the rear evaporator located in behind the passenger side rear cargo area panel. Apparently this connector is very hard to separate from the evaporator due to corrosion (connects to evaporator underneath cargo area floor). The green fluid I saw is a dye to detect a leak in the a/c system. I was told they would have to cut the evaporator and send it out to be repaired and replace the o-ring which is probably the reason for the leak.. Total cost $642.00

a/c system sealer
I just found out about a product that is suppose to seal leaks in a A/C system.
The website is www.cliplight.com and their product is called "Super Seal ACR" for automotive use! I am going to try to get my hands on the product and try it out. I will let everyone know what the result is either way. It may just save me some bucks... |
