Re: FIRE makes it way out of my intake manifold!!!

Well, the cam timing was ok, but the timing from the distributor was way retarded. So I got it set back to the very middle of the 3 marks on the crank shaft pulley.

But I noticed something weird while doing the timing. After I let the car warm up before I adjusted the timing, it seemed like it was running fine again . That got me thinking that maybe it needs some king of tune up, because it now seems like it just wasnt running well before "warm-up".

What do you guys think?

Why ask about a tune-up... if it needs one, or if you aren't sure, just do it.

Plugs, wires, cap, rotor, oil, filters, PCV valve, and potentially the breather can on the back. Might as well flush/change the coolant while you're doing it.

Change the manual transmission fluid too, it's probably due for it, since it's a 20 year old tranny that's probably only been serviced once or twice.

Good point. As for the tranny, I just replaced the clutch recently, so I dont need to do that, but my poor CRX just sits there and is begging to be driven!

I dont care how busted up it looks ! I'm going to do the tune up and start driving it again! Then I'll park my 2006 Civic and wait for it to start !

I meant to change the fluid in the tranny.. not the clutch... you can tell when the clutch is bad... it's really nearly impossible to tell if the fluid in your tranny is bad, and that isn't a good thing... it's part of vehicle maintenance, but noone really ever does it.

Besides, it's not expensive, it's just 10W30 or 5W30 IIRC.

Oh yeah, sorry! Thats what I meant. When I replaced the clutch I changed the fluid. I put 10W30 in it. Thats cool that its just regular motor oil, the auto tranny fluid for my new Civic cost over 30 bucks for like 3 quarts!
