Reviews of Mr. Fold-it photo-etch tool

Has anyone here used this tool? Here's a photo:

I find myself more and more using photoetch parts that need to be folded fairly precisely and think I need a tool like this. I don't really want to get anything more elaborate, or much more expensive, and am wondering whether anyone can share their experience or advice specifically about this particular tool.

Thank you.

I have this one form micromark. Every time I think I have a use for it, it turns out to be more a pain in the @$$ than it is worth. I get more done with a simple set of mini pliers than with this thing. Just one opinion.

I dont have one of these, but Ive thought about it.

I think it really all boils down to personal preference, and building style. Something like this will work amazingly well for some people, and not at all for others. I'd suggest getting one of the smaller cheap ones to start w/, and see if its something you can work comfortably with, and if it does, then if needed, get one of hte larger ones.

I think also a lot depends on what your building. I could be wrong, but for what most automobile models use, a smaller one would be good. However, if you do any armor or aircraft modeling, then a larger one may come in handy.

You're better off getting the hold 'n fold, since Mission Models started making the Etch Mate out of plastic, it's useless.

Here's a link to a Hold 'n Fold:

Re: Reviews of Mr. Fold-it photo-etch tool

A club member brought this little hand held photo etch tool to a meeting a few weeks ago. I had to say WOW. He loved it although his interests are aircraft... Called the Flip R-5, and not a ton of money either. I know what I said about the micromark tool but I will probably give this one a try. But then I spent a fairly high percentage of my modeling allowance on tools rather than kits. I like the hand held aspect vs. a kind of big clumsy table top approach.

Photo etch for bending photo etch!!! Brilliant!

Worth a look?

in some instances it really is a valuable tool, howver I find myself using my Tamiya pe folder pliers most of the time. They are simple and I find I'm reaching for them the most...
