With that being said, the S197s are faster than the older 350Zs by as much as the 2007 350Zs are faster than the S197s, so I guess that makes it even between both camps. Also, there are the Rev-Up 350Zs that are also capable of trapping up to 104mph, just as a normal (non-Special Edition) S197 Mustang GT is. Sorry. Just combatting misinformation, as always.

uhh, all the stock ones i've seen at the track are running 14's and 15's...maybe they could run mid 13's stock if they were 3,000 ft below sea level, it was 0º outside, and there were 50mph gusts of wind at their back. maybe.

Re: Mustang Vs. 350z...
I would have to pull the flag out on a stock Z pulling a 13.1... That I would have to see to believe. I like the car and all, but a 12 second car it is not.

Here's a stock one against a bolt-on '01 Cobra: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G6w_Q19XlAQ That's the same driver that has since ran a stock 13.1, I believe: http://my350z.com/forum/showthread.php?t=233840 The list below is just from one forum. Not all the fast drivers go to the same forums. Quote:

Re: Mustang Vs. 350z...
my point, chief, is that comparatively all of the other stock cars were running a lot closer to what they should've been. the stock 05+ mustang gt's were for the most part still all running mid to high 13's, the srt-4's were running low 14's, the stock ls1 vehicles were all in the 13's. obviously shitty track conditions don't reflect accurate times for what the cars are capable of getting, but that wasn't the case.
to give you the benefit of the doubt, maybe every single 350z driver i've ever seen at the track just sucks ass at driving.

Zs are ok. Nice little car. Over rated if you ask me. For the money I'd pick alot of other cars first. I've only run one Z in a three way with a very nicely done RSX at the same time. Neither I nor the RSX were impressed with the headlights.

I did find out however that my trap speeds drop as much as 6 mph at Firebird when it's 100+ degrees. In the winter I was trapping 101-102 mph bone stock, about a month ago I was trapping a whopping 95-98 mph and hitting the 14.6-14.8 range. But still no 15 second runs...and I'm not even a very good driver. Heatsoak is a bitch.

Think about what you just said. Consider that New Edge GTs (99-04), are generally about half a second slower than your S197 GT. Get it now?

Re: Mustang Vs. 350z...
I can see what both of you guys are trying to say. When people ask me what stock srt-4's run I tell them high 13's, low 14's even though some people have ran as low as 13.6 with a stock car.
Can we at least agree that 07's are capable of low 13's stock? And no thats not too fast, but its more power than youll ever need in anything other than a straight line. Which is exactly what the 350z wasnt designed for. |
