Re: GTR Articles Thread

Just wanted to say thanks to Le Man and Archangel for their excellent contributions.

Even as I have tried so hard to collect magazines for my physical library, I continue to see things in here I've not come across before. In a way that is good, but it also means I have more searching (and buying) to do.

Re: GTR Articles Thread

Erik: I wish you well on your searches. I purchased a lot of these when the magazines were first published.

Some more: I wasn't sure whether this was more appropriate in the GTR thread or Daan's thread. But you'll appreciate the middle photo on the second page. Recognize the color scheme?

Re: GTR Articles Thread

OMG!!!!

FANTASTIC!!!!

Archangel for President!!!!!

I'm so happy to finally have this, but what's funny is that it came from a scan out of a June 1996 issue of AutoWeek Magazine of all places. I probably have that exact issue buried in a box in the garage from when a friend was tossing out his magazine collection and I saved them. I don't think I have looked at them in more than six years, but one of the few McLaren related items that I've been constantly searching for was effectively right under my nose all this time. I can't believe it.

Re: GTR Articles Thread

It looks like I will have to keep digging and find the rest of the two articles. The LM is from March 1996 and the holy grail is from June 17, 1996.

You'd better look through all your magazines again, maybe you'll find some pics of other McLaren's we haven't seen yet...

Thanks Erik,

You better get some money together then, lots of it. A few years back I used to spend lots of money on magazines, only to keep a few, or tear out the interesting bits. Glad I kept all the Mac F1 bits.

Lots more to come.

Many thanks Archangel GTR for your scans, Lots of new articles I have not seen before.

How long have you been sitting on that pic? No don,t answer, its bad enough Erik thinking he has a copy tucked away in his garage.

May I ask for a larger engine/workshop pic, many thanks in advance

To be honest, I've been sitting on that article since the day I bought it back in June of 1996. I read it once and put it away. Yes.. I know.. I deserve one of these:

It's been sitting in my basement for about that long. I'm just now getting to a lot of the articles/magazines.

Re: GTR Articles Thread

Excellent James - thanks again!

Of course you had to rescan Racecar Engineering: June 1996 article right after I finished cropping the individual photos from the earlier set of scans.

The race programs are cool - did you get the two British GT ones from Simon Lewis?

= = = = =

Here's my 1st contribution, though I do not take credit for the scans. This comes from Bimmer Magazine : May 2003

P.S.: I took the liberty of editing the first few posts and changing those scans to thumbnails since this thread seems to be in it for the long haul.

Re: GTR Articles Thread

Yes, I did get the programs from Simon Lewis. He has been a great source for McLaren memorabilia. Unfortunately, I think all of us collectors have dried up his supplies.

I looked at my first post last night and thought about resizing as well.

And this is actually your second contribution to the thread (post #7.)

I should thank you, Martin, Greg and Carrera for contributing. I know I don't have every article ever published about the GTRs and most of the contributions have been unique to me.
