my trunk wont open

a few weeks back i got my car broken into and they messed the trunk lock up, so my trunk wont open with the key and it wont open using the lever by the driver seat. i know i have to get this fixed, but does anyone have a guess as to how much it might cost me?

Re: my trunk wont open

Did they BREAK the lock? Well the dealership will sock it to you I'm sure, but if you don't mind using a separate key for your trunk, you can pick up the lock for $2-$3 at a wrecking yard. Just be sure the car you get it out of has the key in it. They usually leave the key in the ignition, unless someone took it already. There should be a fork shaped pin holding the lock in from the inside of the trunk. Just pop that off and the lock should fall right out. To get the one out of your car, you might have to get into the trunk through your back seat and unlatch it. Then just switch the locks!

Re: my trunk wont open

If you get the pins out of your old lock and install them into a lock you buy from the junkyard, you won't even have to deal with two keys.
