94 Lumina Antifreeze

Hello, I have a 94 Lumina Euro that is leaking antifreeze. My car overheated and I noticed there was no antifreeze in my radiator or my reserve and when I added some after the car had cooled down it poured directly out of the bottom of the car but not from the radiator more from the middle of the engine around the oil filter. The car still starts up but will not hold antifreeze. I am not sure what the problem is and am thinking it is the water pump. Any ideas?

Re: 94 Lumina Antifreeze

The water pump is mounted high on the passenger side, so unlikely. It sounds like you blew a freeze plug in the block and that's where your leak is coming from. Relatively cheap part, but a PITA to change. If it's the one in the center of the block toward the front of the car, you'll have to drop the starter and possibly the AC compressor to get to it.

The car has not ran since. It will start up but when put into gear shuts off. There is a hollow sound when idling, sort of like a diesel.
