Can't Fit In '96 Metro...might Sell!!

My 6'-3" body just cries out in pain because my legs refuse to fold into 4 sections. Any suggestions on how to stretch out the ol' leg room? If not, I'll be forced to relieve myself of this little dude

Try removing drivers seat and sit in the back seat.

My buddy has a 94 Metro and he's 6'9" and he fits in his Metro just fine. Just pushes the seat as far back as possible.

Tried that. But then I'm about 2 inches too short! I tied short pieces of 2X4s to my shoe soles, but I felt like a dork so I just put the seat back in.

I am 6'4 and have the drivers seat back all the way and back rest tilted and have more head and leg room than many of the cars I have owned or rode in. Play around with seat positions until you find place that is most comfortable. Metros will never be as comfy as a Cadillac but not all that uncomfortable for what they are.

Drill some new bolt holes... I've actually seen this done in a Mustang for a 7 foot tall high school kid. He even had the steering wheel and shifter extended.

Re: Can't Fit In '96 Metro...might Sell!!

My dad's 6' 7" and he fits into my mom's 93 geo metro just fine. When he was vivsiting me he also had no problem driving around my 94 geo metro. Maybe you should do as someone has suggested and drill extra holes so that you can put the seat in the exact position that you want. Obviously there won't always be as much room as you want, but you also need to weigh that against the cost of fuel prices now days.

Re: Can't Fit In '96 Metro...might Sell!!

Ditto the other responses. 6'3", seat all the way back, fit just fine. Way more room (head or Leg)than any domestic.

One word of caution about drilling new holes for the seat. I don't know where you are or your legislation, but I would be real careful about moving that seat. If you were in an accident, even not your fault, you could be partially liable as you had knowingly changed the engineering. Just a thought.

Also, your seats may have an interior frame fault if you don't feel comfortable in them. My ex-Sprint had one side of the back frame cracked and it made the seat lean about 1/4" back further than the other side. I couldn't handle it after about 20 minutes.
