98 Pathy - Can't open rear side door

Rear drivers side door will not open. Outside latch appears not to be attached internally, swings freely. Inside latch has some tension but does not feel like the same tension/tension points as the passenger side rear door. If I can't open the door I can't remove the inside body panel to trouble shoot. I have removed the panel screws. Can't get to the edges of the panel to pry open with the door closed. Tips on getting the door open are welcome.
