99 Ram Fuel Economy

Hey everyone, just looking for tips/suggestions on getting better mileage in my 99 Ram 1500(318 4X4). I just gave it a tune up... plugs, wires, cap/rotor, accel super coil...and it seems to have helped but i am still getting 17mpg at best on the highway...has anyone found any other "tricks" or anything i could try without spending a lot? Thanks!

Leo

Lucas Fuel treatment ..... increased my '02 with the 360 in it by a couple MPG ... I was surprised ... and that was after a tune up as well.

Re: 99 Ram Fuel Economy

17 is damn good ! I get like high 10's around town and maybe 13 on the highway. And I did all kinds of mods. Just keep doing regular tune ups and fluid changes and keep your tires inflated correctly. Don't waste your money on mods that will amount to nothing. The only slightly helpful thing would be to use synthetic fluids every where you can. Like motor , diffs , trans and transfer case. But its expensive and even that wont gain you much. Just will help parts last longer mainly.
