95 keyless pad programing??

My friend has a 95 Windstar with the keyless pad above the door handle.

He bought the van used and does not know the codes to key in.

He locked himself out of the van today and had to wait for his son to come to him with the spare key.

Does anyone know how to either find out the code to open the doors with the keypad or how to program it with your own codes?

I know in my dads Lincoln he had the # was in the trunk but I do not know where that would be in the 95 Windstar.

Any information would be appreciated.

Fred

Did you try using the forum search feature on the Winstar front page? Ask dealer?

Re: 95 keyless pad programing??

yes I did, and other than finding out Dealers charge anywhere from $10.00 to $145.00 to pull the code from the computer (gee I wonder what the chances are that the dealers here will do it for $10.00 )
The only other information is to look for a sticker with the last 5 digits, every answer said to look in a different spot, which no-one replied that they were right and found the code, So I was hoping one of our current group had a definitive answer.

Re: 95 keyless pad programing??

I have good news....no, I have great news!

But first, the dealer wouldn't tell you where to look in the van for the code decal? They are as useless as tits on a boar hog!!!

Anyway, forgive me for not thinking of this sooner, but I have my owner's manual to my 95 Windstar!!! In it, it says to look:

-on your owner's card, nope, nope, nope, don't have that

-taped to the computer module, which hopefully would only be on the back side of it, otherwise that is a PITA to get out. (I wish I didn't have to find that out!?! ) I,m pretty sure I saw it located behind the glove box in my Windstar, WAY uinder the dash, above the hvac ductwork. It's a metal box about 2"X5" on the back side and about 6"deep.

OR, the one I like best is

-taped to the inside of the glove compartment door, if not inside, I'd sure look it over good on all sides.

The OM also states that an additional tape with the code on it is in the glovebox for the first owner to hide somewhere.

Here's some bad news. If someone set a new, personal code inplace of the permanent code, the new code will stay until the new code is used to cancel itself, at which point, the permanent code will become active again, unless changing to a new personal code. It doesn't say if leaving the battery disconnected long enough will clear the personal code and reset to the permanent code. Sorry. Hope you can find it!
