A/C Problems

My a/c is new under the hood but blows out hot air. they said it was something on the inside of the car and would be about 250 dollars to fix. It is a 1996 3.8 pontiac firebird. What could it be and can i fix it myself? Thanks for your help.

Re: A/C Problems

Most likely it has lost refrigerant due to a leak- you need to find and fix the leak- evac and recharge-- most likely leak location is compressor shaft seal-- it he front of the compressor oily/greasy- is it slinging oil onto nearby components? $250 would be a bargain-- most a/c repairs run much higher....

Re: A/C Problems

I am not sure if you two know how to read or not but the sticky thread says not to post new threads in this section, Read the sub forms and find a spot for your thread. This section is for How To stuff not how to fix.

Re: A/C Problems

There is no "Sticky Post" when you search the "New Posts" - Heck I don't even look at forum names- just look at the thread titles- sorry if I did wrong....

Re: A/C Problems

You're ok its the forum starter, just included you. If you go to the Camaro section there is a how to sub forum and there is a sticky that says not to post in that section, Sorry if I came of to obtuse.
