2002 turns over wont start

Hello all. i have searched the forum's high and low and I cant find the answer to my question.

I have a 2002 Pontiac Grand Am SE. I was going to work this morning. accelerating through a turn and the car just died on me. no warnings no nothing.

I can turn the key on and all lights light up. and blinkers work and all that. the starter turns over and the serpentine belt is still in tact and the start turns that however it sounds like there is no combustion. so when I turn the key all you hear is the starter turning. you cant hear pistons firing.

can some one tell me what you think the problem is? the check engine light does not blink. there are no tell tale signs to check for.

any help appreciated.

Re: 2002 turns over wont start

if u pull a plug out and ground it out somewhere metal it will tell you if that plug is fireing and do the same thing for the other plugs. It helps if there is a second person to either do the turning over or watching for spark. If you pull the plugs out and they are wet then that would tell you that you got fuel. If you pull the plug out and turn the motor over and there is puffs of air coming from that cylinder that would tell you that you have compression in that cylinder. When you do this make sure you ground the plug or you could do damage to the coil.
