K Vin Compares to R Vin
Hello, sorry if this is a stupid question but can someone please tell me the difference in the K Vin and the R Vin 350? I got suckered on a 96 K1500 and was told i needed an R Vin 350 to replace the one it came with but i found a K Vin 350 out of a 97 Tahoe, am i okay to get this or will i run into trouble? Once again sorry if this is a stupid question i have googled, yahoo'd trying to find the difference and if it would match up and all i found was the K Vin was put in "bigger" vehicles whatever the hell that means.

Re: K Vin Compares to R Vin
Vin R is a Vortec engine where Vin K is a TBI engine. Vin R has better heads (Vortec L31) , a roller cam, and central sequential fuel injection. Therefore, the Vin R has more HP (265 vs 220) and better torque.
Pretty sure the last year for Vin K was 95 not 97. Check the casting number to be sure. //2000CAYukon |

If it is really a 97, then it should be a VIN R engine. //2000CAYukon |

Re: K Vin Compares to R Vin
I found out 10243880 is for a 10243880...350...95-00...2 or 4...Vortec truck, Gen.I crate motors and "ZZ4", roller cam, one piece rear seal.
Supposedly these can be upgraded to 350 HP No problem has anybody had any experience in this? I have no idea what stock HP is wish i did but dont |
