Engine Restore

Hey I seen a can of Engine Restore its for high milage engines. what do you all think of this stuff? I am sure that someone has used it before. Would you recommend me using it on my 97 K1500 5.7L with 106,000 miles on it? Thanks in advance.

Snake oil, really this stuff is going to plate/restore worn areas on the cylinder bores/pistons, seal worn rings, no way. On some customers insistance in my shop we dumped some in on oil burning engines, nothing!

my 97 has 204,000 miles never used an additive and i wouldnt...it is my belief that you cant pour "engine restore" in a motor and it actually restore or do anything i think it is a big waste of money...i used to work in a repair shop and we have had to pull a few oil pans to unstop and replace oil pumps that are gummed up from some of these products that say they clean the sludge without hurting the motor well where does it go ?? to the oil pan to be cirulated right back in the motor any ways...enough rambling for me only thing i have put in my truck motor is oil...when it had around 100,000 i started using 10w30 then when it hit 170,000 i used 10w40 and now i use 20w50 because with the mileage you know the engine isnt as tight as it used to be... my truck idling holds 50 lbs of oil pressure....thanks

I agree with all of the above. I sold my '91 (C1500 4.3TBI) with 235,000 miles on it, running great. It had never had anything in the sump but conventional 10W-30, changed at 3,000 miles intervals while under warranty (through 36,000 miles), at 40,000 miles and at 5,000 mile intervals thereafter.

I'm only up to 189,000 miles on my 93, but I'm following the same prescription. The TBI 350 burns less than 1 qt in 5,000 miles.

2004 Suburban at 95,000 miles is changed when the oil minder call for it, roughly 8,000 mile intervals. It uses 5W-30 conventional oil and the level moves maybe 1/4" on the stick between changes.

I don't ever add ANYTHING to motor oil.

i have used this product to help in oil usage on a junk vehicle and all it does is plug up the oil filter.....this product does nothing good for your engine... i tried it only as a test to see if it would reduce the oil burning,,,,it did nothing...but plug up the oil filter..

I agree with those that say no. I tried it in an old beater years ago and ended up pulling the oil pan to remove all the sludge that had gummed up the oil pump.
