Re: Front end Noise 92 bird 5.0

Welcome to the forum 918eva. I would take a rubber mallet and start gently tapping all around the front of the car including underneath and also the front suspension and exhaust pipes to see if you can locate the rattle that way. I've never heard of a harmonic balancer making a rattling sound. With the engine idling look at the bottom pulley on the front of the engine and see if it is wobbling at all. This pulley is bolted to the harmonic balancer. Next, shut the engine off and try to rock the pulley back and forth (not turning or spinning it). If it doesn't wobble or move, tap it with the rubber mallet to see if you get the rattling sound. If it doesn't wobble, move or rattle then I would say it isn't your problem. If after all this tapping and rocking you still can't find the problem then I would take it to a front end shop and have them check it out. A new harmonic balance is around $100 plus labor.

Re: Front end Noise 92 bird 5.0

Thanks Guys.
Asked Mechanic To Look At It, Not Fix It Yet. He Says It's Something Like Where The Bell Housing Is. Something By The Tranny, Flywheel Thingy. Well, He Didn't Say It Like That, But That's How I Understood It
As You Can Tell, I Don't Know About Cars. I'm A Girl, It's Not To Be Expected!!

Anyway, He Says My A.c Needs New Compressor And I Can't Afford That, So Unfortunatley, I Have To Sell The Car
It Does Need Some Work, But Runs Great.it Is Only Costing Me Because I Can't Do The Labor Myself.
Has A Real Strong Motor And Tranny Shifts Great Also
Anybody Interested. Let Me Know
