tap in the engine.. trans fluid ?

Hello,

Recently after my dad drove my camaro (1986) to work one day it started developing a tap. Personally I believe him driving 85+ on a high way with it bent a push rod, it is the origonal engine with 200,000+ miles on it. However I was told to first put trans fluid in with the oil and let it run for roughly 15 minutes (DONT GUN IT or drive it) which if it is a dry lifter or dirt in it, that would solve the problem.

Does anyone know if this would work ?

Re: tap in the engine.. trans fluid ?

No that would definitely not work and it will not be good on your motor. What engine do you have? a v8? v6? Describe this tap. Does it get louder the faster you go? is it staying the same all the time? is the car running worse now? idling badly? Try changing the motor oil if it needs a change sometimes engines act up when it needs an oil change..lets start there and work this thing thru
