Need info, will probably be buying soon. Brand new.
The minute that I can sell my Silverado I intend buying a brand new 2008 Tundra with a 5.7L and double cab.
For you owners I'd like know your impressions of this truck, ups and downs. I manna know what i'm buying and what better place than a forum to ask. What is your fuel consumption. I intend pulling a 9000lbs RV 4 days a year and a 2000lbs pounds fishing boat for 10 kilometers a day during the whole summer. I wan't to use it also during my hunting season. So please tell me what you know about this truck. Mike |

Mike,
I have an 08 Tundra Dbl cab. I love the truck. Great power, rides great, roomy interior. Some cons: Thin sheet metal,(guessing they are trying to make the truck lighter), some people have bed bounce, (I have not experienced it) Check out this site for more info: www.tundrasolutions.com |

Re: Need info, will probably be buying soon. Brand new.
I have a 2007 Tundra 5.7 Double Cab purchased September 2008. It has 12000 miles on it. I tow different trailers regularly. I have towed a 18' gooseneck (3200# + over 8,000# on the trailer) for over 175 miles. The gas mileage was 11.5MPG on the flat and ended up 8.7 in the mountains near Cumberland MD. On the return triop empty, I got over 12.5MPG at about 75-80 MPH. I also tow a fifth wheel camper that weighs about 8000#. It gets around 10 MPG when towing it. With a tandem axle 6.5' x 14' open trailer, expect 12-14 MPG (full and empty).
When you are travelling without a trailer, expect 15-18 MPG, depending on your driving style and conditions. On a trip to Richmond VA (225 miles), I averaged 17.7 MPG while averaging about 70 MPH. It was aver 18 until I got a few mountains. There is plenty of power and good braking with a smooth ride. Hope that answers your questions. |
