Autocar test, McLaren didn't use cats?

I distinctly remember the picture with the flames coming out of the exhaust, and according to pistonheads in this link : http://www.pistonheads.com/doc.asp?c=105&i=18014
catalytic converters were removed for the acceleration test. This doesn't sound like mclaren procedure, as they didn't do that for the ehra high speed test and used minimal modification. I am hoping for confirmation on whether or not cats were used.

Quickly scan-reading the test I couldn't see a mention of this, although they do state that XP4 was used for the figures and XP5 for the pictures.

I figured I would chime in to add that while this is the first I have heard of this version of the story from any source, I certainly wouldn't discount someone who claims they were there when it happened. Only someone else who was there could do that, and I doubt we'll see that occur.
