every remote start i've ever seen has had a switch like this. so that would be my guess. of course it could be something else. if you have remote start, flip the switch off and hit the start button, if it doesnt start you have your answer, if it does start you're back to following the leads.

Could be a Self Destruct switch.... Everytime you flip it on and off, you come a few seconds closer to total destruction
