I have a 1993 T-bird, with a 5.0 High Output... here is my problem... when I bought the car, it just wouldnt run right.. backfire with even minimal throttle and basically no get up and go at all... barely made it to 30 mph. I had a similar problem with my 95 contour, so i did what I do.. unplugged the mass airflow sensor and now it runs.. but the check engine light comes on about 5 seconds after I start my car. I know why the check engine light comes on, but i cannot figure out why unplugging the MAF fixed the problem... what is the deal?
another thing is i cannot completely figure out my sunroof. sometimes it is automatic.. sometimes I have to hold the buttons to open it or open the vent. if i turn my car off with the sunroof open, i cannot close it with the close button, i have to use the vent button until it is fully deployed on vent, then i can close it. and what is the button that glows red? ASC i think it is labeled.... someone please explain it to me... ![]() thanks a bunch Cheeseball*

well... i work in a shop as a go-for boy lol, so i talked to one of the mechanics and he suggested that i spray parts cleaner on the MAF to clean the barbs, worked no more problems, better gas mileage and no more backfire sputter... still though.. sunroof is stuck open and im in kansas..... we have accumulated 2 inches of rain now in the past hour 28 minutes... yay! swimming car!!! wOOt_)!

The first thing to try with the moonroof problem is to clean the switch with tuner cleaner which you can buy at a hardware store. The spray is used to clean switches and tuner parts in electronics. You must spray it into the switch and push the button in both directions (with the power off-disconnect battery if the window normally opens with the key off). If that doesn't cure it then the electronic control unit is probably bad and will need to be replaced. I don't know what the red button is for.
