Killed a Z71 (He started it!)

Going to a grocery store at about midnight, i am cruising with torched (he cant drive, expired license ) after a stop light, I am accelerating normal when all of the sudden this huge truck pulls up next to me and revs at me. A brand new Silverado, pretty nice.

I was thinking, "Am i about to be jumped by rednecks?" but when i look over i see this kid in his mid twenties grinning from ear to ear and pointing forward towards the bridge coming up, indicating he wanted to run em. I kinda laughed but grinned back and gave him the thumbs up.

We pull up to the light before the bridge, and I was expecting to go from a stop, but the light turned green when i was coasting at about 15mph. Z71 guy floors it. He makes alot of noise and starts pulling. I just leave it in 2nd gear at 15 and floor it.

Slowly but surely i reel him in, he never got more than 2 cars or so on me. When i hit about 40 it was all over. Blasted by him and shifted to third. He let off when I put about 6 lengths on him, but i kept going to about 110 before i even got to the bridge

He pulls up next to us, still smiling, gives a thumbs up and pulls in behind us and drives home. Pretty entertaining, I love those random ones like that.

nice kill. its rare to find a good sport even though he lost, some people take losing too seriously

some people think volume and speed are directly correlated, but yeah at least he was cool about the loss tho. i respect someone who loses and pulls back up to give you a thumbs up a lot more than someone who hides in your blind spot..

Re: Killed a Z71 (He started it!)

I know what you mean. I am more than happy to give respect when it is due. I highly doubt this guy thought he had a chance, just wanted some fun. Although the blind spot is so damn massive on my car, if he is anywhere but right next to me I cant see him anyone who has ridden in an SS or RL knows what Im talking about.

It was a very nice truck however, Ill give him that.

On a side note, the Z28 (camerica) has been crashed some confusion in a construction zone and a Suburban literally ran over the hood of his car. Sad site to see, and watch for that matter.

And a question for 98BlackTransAm... Where did you take that picture in your avatar? I wish we had places like that up here, looks pretty high end.

Are you referring to the lake in his sig? Looks like either Falls or Jordan, in North Carolina

Re: Killed a Z71 (He started it!)

Yeah we need something like that up here. We usually take ours on a boat landing, but it doesnt look nearly as good as that does. And GM seems to think that you dont need to see behind you, because they are only getting worse. Pretty soon its going to be PT cruiser convertible syndrome on all of the vehicles. (Aka smallest damn rear window ever)
