2003 20th Anniv GTI jammed cruise control

My car was in an accident a couple of years ago and that was a nightmare within itself, but i didn't notice that my cruise control was jammed before the claim was closed. The on/off switch is fine, but the set/reset button is jammed. It is attached to my blinker so I am wondering if there is an easier way to take the cover off and pop the button out or see whats wrong with the spring without having to remove or replace the blinker. Please help me IM BROKE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
