They are offering the same re-release of the silver one that other vendors have.

Ah, ok. Happened to be in there looking at the 1/12 scale 288 GTO. When I saw the F1, thought it was a misprint or hallucination.

And I guess this will take some steam out of the eBay prices on silver ones.

OK....we have to have a picture clear about these models.
The 1:12 Mclarens that we all have are the first editions. With the brown box and as we know them. I don't know how the new 1:12 will be packed or if these new cars will be more detailed ones, but as a collector I would pay to have the first released edition, which of course is exclusive, and also i would pay to have the new release.
So the prices in my opninion will be the same, first edition will be higher than the new one.
Let's see.......
by the way....have u received any confirmation about release date?
It will only be silver? will they sell any other colours?
Have you heard of this KIM from Hong Kong? Any other Limited F1 GTR released?

Not certain yet, as I've not contacted Exoticar Models to inquire. I was actually quite surprised to see the 1/12 scale F1 on their list. Their Site indicates it is currently for sale, just in silver. I am guessing that now, anyone selling them will have to indicate what 'run' it's from (first production run many years ago, or the current one). Also, it would be great if they made all the colors available; I'm sure there is still a robust market for them.

Funny thing ... on the Exoticar Web site, the 1/12 scale Enzo and 288 GTO (among others) are more expensive than the F1; not so in 1/1 scale.

Re: 1/12 minichamps Mclaren f1 silver- wanted

Possible explanation of the price difference is this:-
They would already have the tooling for the F1 which would probably have been paid for during the 1st run of the model.
The Enzo etc would have been tooled up later at probably higher cost hence model sels at higher price to recoup these costs.
Finally with improving technology the tooling may be better and more detailed hence a greater asking price, without seeing them can't really confirm this last one though.

I agree with you. !
That's the reason of costs.
Dont'u think that delays on release of this model is a legal matter at this point? btwn Mclaren and BMW? remember that the engine says BMW and now Mclaren is owned by Mercedes.

Well i talked to Exoticar from here in Colombia a couple of months ago and they told that the price listed is the ONE. And also they could not confirm delivery yet.

Hmmm... Well, I have family in Mass., so a drive up there in the near future may be in order. I have two 1/18 scale F1s, but have yet to buy a 1/12 scale, so I'll have to keep an eye on it. Many thanks!

Sounds reasonable. Also, the Enzo (as built by Tamiya) came partially assembled, as did their 1/12 scale F40 and F50. I would dearly love to have them do an F1 the same way. Seeing all the photos here and in DA and all the magazines I have is one thing, but it would be soooo neat to be able to put together an F1.
