Busted Tail Light, Can't Find Part
I have a 2001 Buick Regal LS. My 6 year old whacked the reverse/parking light cover with a Lacrosse ball and now there's a hole in it. This is the middle piece that attaches to the trunk, not one of the side tail light covers.
I don't even dare call the dealership, because the discount online places want $150 each for the side covers. I'm sure the middle piece would be $300 or more from Buick. Does anyone know what this middle red cover is called? And where can I find a used one cheap? Is it difficult to install? I didn't see any obvious connectors at first glance. Am I going to have to call around to individual junk yards or is there a central website you guys can refer me to? Thanks! |

Re: Busted Tail Light, Can't Find Part
Yeah that is a bummer.
Expensive part. Around $460.00 GM List price. According to alternative GM sources like the Mitchells it is called a Backup Lamp Assembly. Also, it has the running/park lights and the license plate holder and license plate lights. Your best bet would be a salvage yard. Also, try Ed Morad at his Ebay store. He specializes in used GM "W" body car parts like for the Regal.Very easy to remove and replace. Lift the trunk and on the back of the lid you'll see the fasteners. Just remove the plastic wing nuts or standard nuts depending on which design you have. Several of them. Once you remove those it will detach and you will see the wiring harness(s) and various connector to the lamps.
