2000 Blazer- I get shocked by static electicity when I get out of car

Every once in a while I get ESD Electro Static Discharge when I get out of my Blazer. The Only thing I have on it thats "after market" is the auto start....

What causes this?

You could buy a ground strap at a parts store for your blazer. I imagine your sliding across the seat.

has this always happened or did it start after a tire change or new seat covers.

rhandwor is right, a common solution is dragging a chain or ground strap attached to the frame to draw off the static electricity. You'll see these on gasoline tankers where static discharge could be a big problem

It would happen from time to time.....I dont have seat covers and never after I had to change a tire.....
