A lad from Liverpool you might have heard of...

Excuse the poor quality of the screen caps - the link to the video is below:

http://www.fastfocus.tv/Media.aspx?id=5

Interesting video, shows George at the wheel of one of his Minis and driving an open-wheel racecar which I assume is a Formula Ford but I don't know enough about them to know the marque or the vintage. He's also shown in the pits at various F1 races with Jackie Stewart and Emerson Fittipaldi.

Yet another reason why George Harrison is ridiculously awesome.

Re: A lad from Liverpool you might have heard of...

Does anyone know what color George's F1 (chassis #??) really was? I'm sure I read an article about him ordering it in a special custom made maroon-ish shade, but here it seems plain black...

I guess this website is wrong about the color anyway (scroll down):

And does anyone know what happened to George's F1 and Rocket? They just stayed in the family?

Cheers, Ruben

Hi Ruben,

That green Rocket next to the silver clinic model F1, is Gordon Murray,s own car. I have a magazine article, where he took his son on a road trip to France in it.

Hi Le Man,

I've seen it, great article! It is also on http://www.lccrocket.com/ , hosted by the new owner of my previous pride & joy. Great website with lots of interesting info and some great movie clips of Murray's first road car, def worth a visit!

Cheers, Ruben

I always understood George Harrison had the Aubergine car much talked about?

There was some confusion that surrounded Harrison's F1 due to the color for many years.

Ultimately it was determined that although his car was apparently painted to match the color of an aubergine, it was not #016 listed as being painted "Aubergine".

I have it on great authority now that chassis #016's first owner was a gentleman in Japan and not George Harrison.

We've also learned with good certainty now that Harrison's car is really chassis #025, listed as having been painted "Dark Purple Pearl".

Re: A lad from Liverpool you might have heard of...

There is a short clip of George Harrison driving his rocket at Goodwood, one section with no helmet, I'm guessing I found it on youtube but I didn't bother saving it.

There's also another clip of George arriving at his estate in his F1 with Paul and Ringo as passengers. The first photo from hurst01 in this thread is probably a screen cap from this clip.

Sorry to bump an old thread, but I have been wondering this for a while now - has anyone got the Beatles Anthology DVD's and can narrow down the time / tracks that precede and follow the sighting of Paul, Ringo and george oulling up in the F1 outside a hotel? I heard it was just before 'Free as a Bird' but couldn't see it.
