Where to buy a new car?

I am going to graduate soon from a university in St. Louis and then relocate to a city close to Columbus in August. My wife and I are planning to buy a new Honda Accord to replace our 96 Prizm. But we have had a difficult time deciding where to buy, i.e., St. Louis or Columbus.

If we buy here and now, we have more time looking around and compare quotes. But since we are going to relocate soon, we are going to give up the maintenance services provided by the auto dealer. Additionally, there will be the problem of changing the title page and paying license fee, etc. because we are going to move to a different state. On the other hand, if we buy in Columbus, we will have to wait till August and then we also will have to rent a car for a one-way trip from St. Louis to Columbus, a strange city to us.

Can anybody give us advice? Any information about Honda dealers and prices in Columbus will be welcome. Thank you in advance.

3 ) On my website I recommend when shopping for a new vehicle having to pay a few bucks more buying close to home is a better investment than having to drive distance should you have issues, simple reason selling dealer gives you that little extra service.

4 ) I dont know what your plans are for the 96 Prizm, in a trade it's not worth much, if in good running condition why not drive it to your destination and save the rental cost and then sell it private.

Thank you very much, Ray, for the reply. Your suggestions are very helpful. But our case is kind of complicated, and we need more advice.

Our 96 Prizm is running great and I also would like to drive it to Ohio. But my wife is concerned about its reliability since this is going to be long distance drive.

Additionally, we are going to leave St. Louis in early June and head for Vermont for a summer job. We are planning to drop our belongings on the way to Vermont. We can stay near Columbus for two or three days only.

Since we are now in St. Louis, is it easy to hunt for an Accord from a dealer in the Columbus area? I am concerned because we know nothing about Honder dealers there.

And then, during our short stay there, we will need to locate a new Accord and find a way to sell our Prizm because I don't know where to put it. Do you think it is doable to have both done within two days?

The best scenario is that: we buy our Accord and sell our Prizm all within that short period. But if we can't sell our Prizm by the end of our stay there, do you think there is any place to store the car for about two months without paying much?

To store the 96 vehicle should not be a problem if you at very end of negotiations make deal subject to dealer letting you store the 96 for the time frame, the only way they will turn you down is if they really dont have the room.
