well, it's getting there. There are tons of cars out there as nice as yours and even nicer than yours fighting fore a sponsorship. If you were going to sponsor someone, would you pick your car? I think your car is nice, but not quite sponsorship ready. I've seen cars like yours just as nice, even with custom headlight/tail light conversions that run under 10 in the 1/4 mile that couldn't get a sponsor. Don't get me wrong, your car is very nice and you might be able to get someone to sponsor it. But as for me, I would have to say it's almost there. Very nice car though.

If sponsorship is what you're looking for... you are entering a territory that has become more and more competitive recently. Simply having a nice car is NOT going to get it done. My advice for you is to get on one of the racing circuits...NOPI drag series, NIRA, NHRA.. and BE SEEN. The only way you are going to pick up some sponsorships is to show up to these events and meet the people that are responsible for putting the import scene together. It's the ONLY way. A few weeks ago I spent about 3 hours hanging out with the World Racing Team and the great Christain Rado himself...and I learned more and got more advice in that time then I ever would have reading magazines or posting on forums. My advice is get out there, meet the people to know. Don't expect phone calls and letters to get the job done. And equally importantly get on the circuit and start putting down some times on the track...and I'm not talking about your local 1/8th mile track. Run with some of the big dogs. My buddy ran at NOPI in St. Louis a few weeks ago in his 12 second Neon ....and ran against Scott Mohler (fastest NA neon in the world). He lost...but in the span of 2 DAYS picked up 3 major sponsors.....OUT OF A 12-SECOND CAR! The main thing is ....you have to show them you are serious about the sport...and you aren't in it just to go galavanting around in your pretty car to pick up chicks.

Why do you continue to work on your car? Are you still selling it or did you decide to keep it? Because if you are getting "sponsors" read the fine print - if its like a REAL sponsor thats giving you anything other then like a small cheap $100 bolt on or something they wont allow you to sell your car for 1 year...

So even if you finish the car, go get 5 sponsors that hook you up with basically a new car - you wont be allowed to sell it or the sponsors will drop you which can result in alot of nasty things happening.

But from what I can see its not too shabby, theres a few problems but im sure its nothing you dont already know about :flash:

good luck! While you're out there in the pits make sure you walk around and meet some people. Don't just stand around your car, wander around and talk to some of the other guys in the pits. At our last drag weekend I met some of the nicest guys in the import scene...that I never would have met if I would have been sitting around in our pit all day. And it's a helluva time.

Isn't the swap only illegal if you have to go thru emissions tests? I know a lot of people in Indy with older swaps that have never had problems with their swaps.

i live in indiana...and i have NEVER heard of having to pass any emissions tests out here....as a matter of fact...the cops out here wouldn't know the difference between an engine and the hole in their ass.

no, that's not what I was talking about. I was saying that it's illegal because if you swap your motor, the motor has to be the same year as your car or newer.

Beauty of New York state - no one checks that, they just stick a meter in your tail pipe and if you pass you pass, doesnt matter what your your car/motor combo is :smoka:
