Testing the water...

I was wondering how many of you guys if any would want to buy an office chair that resembles the Mclaren f1 Drivers seat. Made of either carbon fiber or black fiber glass (which when cured looks almost exactly like carbon fiber but would make the chair much more affordable) Head count please.

Re: Testing the water...

Just wondering have you got the moulds or a drawing, if not are you doing it from eye / feel, what degree of accuracy are you aiming for?

Re: Testing the water...

I don't have the original drawings and specs from Mclaren Cars LTD so obviously it will not be exactly like the one found in the f1...however from the resources that i have at my disposal i am very confident that i could be pretty spot on to the original. Obviously as many pictures as practical would be shared well before anyone would commit, i would hate to have disappointed buyers. what would seem reasonable to some of you for a price for a quality office chair, bearing in mind that the seat itself would not have any adjustability, however i plan to use a rocking chair base, that is height adjustable, with armrest not actually attached to the sea itself so it would be your option to use them or not depending on how much like the real thing you want to sit in, but not using them would not hinder the overall appearence of the seat. I would like to know what you guys feel you would be willing to pay so that i can see if material cost wise it would be feasable. Thanks for you help guys!

Re: Testing the water...

As mentioned above ... price dependant!

I enquired with Reverie about a custom-made carbon fibre/fiber steering wheel to simulate a Sparco steering wheel I had, a while back and the broken down costs, i.e. design, tooling, etc., etc., etc, amassed to over 10,000(!) Euro! *Estimated at 15,000 Yankee Dollars!* PAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAASSSSSSSSS!!!

Re: Testing the water...

Well based on the price I heard an F1 owner paid for a new front splitter (£780) you probably won't get it for less than £2,000.
You come up with a price and I will consider, not bothered about a base as I have access to plenty of seat bases.
