1994 Continental not going over 40 MPH
My 1994 Lincoln Continental will not go over 40 MPH...
What are some problems that can cause this issue........ |

Has any thing happened to car like overtemp or Trans fluid change;
Sound s like it is in a self protect mode |

It sounds like your car is in limp home mode. My guess is that it may have lost tach signal to your EDIS module (I'm pretty sure you car is equipped with EDIS) without tach it wont advance the spark and esentually retards the spark at RPM. of course the computer could be causing to function like this due to some other error.
Go get it scanned If all looks well I would start looking at the fuel side. Perhaps a bad presure regulator is letting the line pressure drop to low or it could be something as simple as a plugged fuel filter or weak pump. |

i had this same peoblem on my 95 cont turned out to be the power train relay in the fuse block under the hood only cost 6$ i think but once i hit 40mph the traction controll would kick on and limit me to only 40 and i could not give it more gas till it dropped to 30-35 mph
