Rear sway bar for the GTRA

I have installed a rear sway bar. It's exactly like the one on the GTS car shown here.

(This picture is lifted off of www.wirewheel.com )

The mounting brackets and holes where already in my car. You will need to trim the sway bar arms and drill some holes in them. Everything else is bolt in.

Here's a material list
1 3/4"x36.5" Speedway Engineering sway bar. PN 607-4 (the only had a 36" bar in stock so I got it. It will work but the 36.5" will be better)
2 Speedway Engineering aluminum sway bar arms. PN 616
2 3/4" locating collars PN 605C-75
I bought the above from www.hrpworld.com
2 3/4" rod ends
4 3/8" rod ends
4 3/4"/16 nuts
2 3/8" 24 coupling nuts
4 3/8" 24 jamb nuts
4 3/8"x1.5" grade 5 or 8 bolts, nuts and washers.
I got the rod ends from www.thebigbearingstore.com
The nuts and bolts came from the local hardware store.

Total cost was about $215.00

I'm headed to Sebring this weekend with Chin. I'll let you know how it performs.

Re: Rear sway bar for the GTRA

Awesome. I've been hoping to pick up a rear bar.
Look forward to hearing how it works on the car. Enjoy Sebring!

Thumbs up Re: Rear sway bar for the GTRA

Hi Jim,
great run down of the parts. Looks just like the set-up on our GTWC car. Will look for you at Sebring. Glen

I'm sure you'll see me as you pass me. I'll be running the street tires again.

Must be a private joke? Why would you be running street tires on a car that isn't street legal??? Or did I miss something?

Re: Rear sway bar for the GTRA

Why would you use race tires if your not racing? Or did I miss something?

Re: Rear sway bar for the GTRA ***Performance report from Sebring***

Well, I'm back after 2 days on track at Sebring with Chin Motorsports. The rear sway bar made a noticeable difference. At first I set the new rear bar on the softest setting. Springs and shocks are as delivered. The push was gone. I did have some over-steer though. It was a bit unnerving at times. The car may have been faster, but it was not as much fun to drive. I no longer had the front tires scrubbing across the track.

I then set the front bar from the softest setting to the firmest. This dialed out the unpredictable over-steer and made the car very neutral. Instead of scrubbing the front tires at the limit, the car would go into a 4 wheel drift. Hammering the throttle on and off to make it turn was no longer required.

All and all I say it was very worthwhile addition. I haven't been keeping lap times so my analisys is all SOTP. I'll know more in 3 weeks. David is coming to Sebring with his GTRA. We'll run nose to tail and make some comparisons.
