Angry 93 Trooper Transmission Failure

I have a 93 Trooper 115000 miles original transmission, the transmission went into limp mode a couple of weeks ago and now I get nothing. I had to replace the force motor and the check transmission light no longer flashes trouble codes at me but the light does still work comes on with all the other lights when I turn the key. I have checked the fluid and it is fine as well but no go any ideas what is wrong with my tranny?

Re: 93 Trooper Transmission Failure

A little more information to include after reading through the posts, there has not been any metal in the pan, no odd noises, fluid was always good and has been replaced after changing the force motor, I was driving along one day and the thing just stop working no forward and no reverse at all, had it towed to the dealer and they pulled the code for the force motor I replaced it and the codes are now gone, the TCM is working, the trooper has been restarted many times since then but I am still dead in the water. Any ideas at all, anyone???

Re: 93 Trooper Transmission Failure

These trannies will sometimes go into limp mode if your volts are low; check the battery and alternator UNDER load - if the alt is less then 14v, it's causing the problem.

Re: 93 Trooper Transmission Failure

Your saying that if my alt is not working that my tranny will not run at all? I am having the alt. tested today, any other ideas?

Re: 93 Trooper Transmission Failure

Did you have the alternator tested UNDER load? And, what amount of volts was it putting out?

Anything less than 14V, time to get a new one.

Re: 93 Trooper Transmission Failure

If you have no foward or reverse at any times it sounds like something came apart internally in the transmission itself. I've seen these transmissions just die like that before.

Re: 93 Trooper Transmission Failure

Drivers side of the transmission pan, there should be a clam shell looking thing.

As to how to clean it, look for the Isuzufaq's sticky thread on the Rodeo forum - I"m not positive, I've never had to clean mine.

Re: 93 Trooper Transmission Failure

I just had my 93 trooper rebuilt by AAMCO because of code 33 (force solenoid). The problems happens at idle speed in drive. The check light comes on and goes into limp mode. I have to manaully shift starting from low to D. If I restart the car, it works fine again. I had the solenoid replace 2X and it still happens. I check the alternator, etc... no clue why it still happens. Not sure what it is.

you *are* going into limp/backup mode. this is almost always an electrical issue, usually unrelated to the transmission, often the charging system...battery, alternator, wiring, connectors, grounds.

you should first read the CEL code(s), they will be stored even if the light goes out. it may well be a good clue as to what the problem is.

is this the reason AAMCO did the rebuild origninally?

I see the post is more than a year old. Have you solved this problem. I have a 1993 with the same problem (March 2009).
