Pontiac wont start!
I have a 92 Pontiac Bonneville and after I drive it for 15 to 20 min in the city and I turn it off I have to wait another 10 to 15 min before it will start and every once in a while it will suddenly die while I am driving. As if something is hot however the car engine is not hot? Does any one have any idea what this could be?

Re: Pontiac wont start!
It could be quite a few things, crank sensor, ignition control module, fuel pump, PCM & even a bad ground or battery connection. Next time it won't start you need to be prepared to check for spark & fuel. It's most likely going to be the crank sensor or ICM. If you're normally by yourself then you'll need a remote starter switch & spare spark plug to check for spark.

Re: Pontiac wont start!
The next time it will not start, check for spark! Only a couple of things on this particular engine that can be heat sensitive, cause random stalling and require cooling time to restart! Unfortunately, that would be the ignition control module (ICM), or the crank position sensor (CKPS). You can remove the ICM located under the coils and take it to Auto-Rice-Zone for testing. Be sure to have them run it through several cycles in order to simulate engine heat related failure. If that checks OK, the CKPS replacement is next! Random stalling is very hard to diagnose and usually does not leave a clue as far as codes. Good luck!
