Re: Egr Valve?
Welcome to AF!
Why do you need a new one? Unless you have 80K miles on your car this should be covered by the emissions warranty on your Pacifica. |

I am a friend of Colella, he forgot to give you some of the basic information you need to know to help him with this problem. First of all the car has a bad exhaust leak somewahere at the back of the motor. He took it to a well known muffiler shop (that is trusted). The shop looked at the pipes and they all looked good, so he suggested to check the EGR to see if it is broke. I myself looked under the hood and was unable to locate the EGR location. So first off, Could you tell me where to find it? and is it a likely sorce of the leak?
Thanks Kelly |

Re: Egr Valve?
How many miles are on this vehicle? A problem like this should be covered by the warranty. I am not certain where the egr is located. I will check mine to see if I can locate it. This actually sounds more like a cracked exhaust manifold rather than the egr valve.

Re: Egr Valve?
Matt, said that his car only 46000 miles on it, but he only had a 37000 mile warranty on it. Is there a longer warranty for the emissions?

Re: Egr Valve?
Yes, The emissions equipment must be warranted for at least 70K miles most go to 80K for certain parts. If the egr valve is bad then it is covered by the emissions warranty especially if he bought the car new. Used warranties are different.

The EGR valve is located on the driver's side rear of the engine and can be seen by removing the left front wheel. I have had this problem with mine and what happens is this: On the bottom of the unit there is a soft (freeze) cup plug that blows out and causes the noisy leak; it is practically impossible to access the bolts that hold the unit to the block without dropping the drivetrain cradle down about 2". I am not sure about the warranty on this unit, but rather than replace it with another that could have the same problem I installed a 7/8" cup plug and drilled through it and the body and installed a 8-32 machine screw and locknut to hold it in place.

I had my EGR valve pop off and after reaserching it on the internet I found that although there was never an acutal RECALL, the dealer is replacing these for free! Thank God I looked first, because when I made the initial appointment they were going to charge me for it.........of course I reminded them of the not-yet-a-recall that I found.......and they waived all fees!
But, yeah, dont pay for that my friends! |

I know this is an old thread, but I need help with this. I have an 04 with 56k miles. I purchased with with 32k. i did receive the remaining power train warranty and purchased a warranty (unfortunantly not thru Chrysler). Anyway, recently bought tires. Saturday, info light came on stating service tire system soon. Then yesterday evening, that went off but my check engine light came on. I was able to get the code read this evening and it is stating EGR valve.
Does anyone know how hard this is to change? Is it covered by Chrysler? Would my warranty cover it? I know the part is only $56, but I'm worried it might be hard to get to. Being a single mom, money is tight at the moment. Any help is appreciated. |
