is a 1992 sl1 engine interchangable with a 1992 sl2 engine

hi my name is tyler im tryin to figure out if i can put a 1992 sl2 fuel injected engine into my sl1. the engine that is in my car is a 1.9 sohc and my buddy has a 92 sl2 dohc i want to know if i can put his engine into my car

More information is needed. Auto/manual??

Your car auto with his car manual:
NO. Not just the engine can be brought over. The transmission would also have to be brought over for an auto to manual swap. Or you can get an auto DOHC tranny with an auto '92 DOHC PCM.

Your car manual with his car manual:
Yes. The engine could be brought over with no issues.

Your car auto with his car auto:
NO. Not just the engine can be brought over. The transmission would also have to be brought over, or an auto DOHC PCM from '92 is needed

Your car manual with his car auto:
Yes. Flex plate would have to be replaced with the flywheel. Otherwise its plug and play.

In any of the YES cases above you need to bring over the manifolds, down pipe and PCM. Also note that for SOHC manual tranny they have different gear ratios than the DOHC trannys.
