The vtec comment was directed twords the sohc setup, but...

The vtec motor in general was designed to put out power that a similar sized enging with turbo would produce.

Ask the Honda tech's that designed the motor, they will tell you not to turbo it.

You my friend are a fool
the only problem w Vtec and boost is that the overlap on the intake and exhaust sides sometimes w HIGH lift cams allows afor a lil boost pressure loss. And that is on DOHC motors and to fix it all you have to do is dial out the overlap.

SOHC vtec is a fine motor to boost
all you have to do is tune it on the vtec lobe which BTW is ONLY the intake side and it will be fine.

jesus i hate when people give out false and bad advice
so STOP IT.

oh yeah i dont care what yer friend did and or his buddies mothers uncles fathers kid did either, i know the facts and i have boosted SOHC vtec's many times, believe me i know whats up

So you've built a few motors in your day, as I have also.
Laddie friggin' da.

I never said that one couldn't put pressure into a vtec engine, I'm actually helping a friend put a 16g onto a z6 right now. I simply stated that the vtec engines were never meant for turbo, and if you're going turbo, you're better off starting with a non vtec engine.

Call that bad advice if you want to, but I simply repeated what the Honda engineers who actually designed the motors had to say about the engines, but I guess since you've tinkered with a few, you know more than they do.

So you know a few facts, but obviously, not all of them.

Sometimes someone who knows just enought to think they know it all, is more ingnorant than someone who knows nothing at all.

hmmm lets see
fastest honda and most powerful honda motors are Vtec
a Boosted Gsr is gauranteed to make more power than a boosted LS
assuming the compression ratios are similar
why
oh yeah Vtec allows for more air into the cyl
more air + more fuel = MORE POWER
seems pretty simple HUH?

personally i dont give a flying f*CK who you talked to @ honda

ive spoken to some of the top honda engine builders in the world
and guess what they all use vtec motors

ive been doing this for over 5 years professionally @my OWN shop.
and been building motors for 8 years. I know what im talking about

Wow, you have your own shop, and talked to some people who build good engines. I guess that means your right, and I'm wrong.

I'm not going to get in a pissing match with someone who "knows what they are talking about".
