performance parts
Hello,
Has anyone had success in improving the performance of the 3.1 in thier Rodeo. Headers and exhaust system Air Intake Chip Turbo Cam Heads Interested in learning what has worked to get a few extra hp out of the 3.1 Not planning to do a complete engine rebuild, but would be nice to learn if there are any bolt on parts that actually do work. Tow a 3,000 lb trailer from time to time and would be great to have a bit more power under the hood for the long uphills. Pleased to hear, P99 |

Re: performance parts
It is a GM engine so there should be some stuff out there for it.

Quote:
If it's an automatic with overdrive, leave it out. You can easily tell if your pulling too hard and no to very little response from gas peddle. Too high a gear is the problem. Hard on the engine too. Over size tires promote wrong gearing for the power and load as well. Adding a 1/2 inch of tire diameter will kill performance. Reducing by 1/2 inch will get you going. It works wonders. I use complete extra sets ready to flip out depending on the mission. |

Re: performance parts
Thanks Philscbx, much appreciated.
Plan to put in a T and install a real oil pressure gauge. Your comments on tire size also well noted. Brgds, P99 |
