? about power at road speed with 3.1 APV

Went for a spin in my dads 91 APV to the scrap tard. The van runs fine thru town, but after we got on the bypass, he had trouble getting the van up 50 mph. It seemed to be losing all kinds of power at road speed, as if its staving for fuel. Everything under the hood is new, because i had the motor tore down a short time ago. Got it back together and it ran pretty good untill now. Its got a new timing chain, all new dist parts, heads gaskets, coil, plugs @wires, and a few other things that i remember. Could this be in the fuel system, Please Advise

You do not leave many chances....and of course, would check fuel pressure ..12-14 psi with the TBI, change fuel filter, rarely the actual problem, but easy and cheap..I would not look for anything else before this being 100% sure in the first place.THen a lo fuel pressure would call for the pump or pressure regulator.
Do you have normal voltage reading? OF course, it would not start easily now if alternator was dead..but just ot be sure...low voltage has those symptoms too.
..is the Check ENgine Light ON? Failed MAP sensor or TPSensor might have similar consequences. CHeck all wiring.

Thanx for all the great advice, yeah wiring or emissions never were a strong point for me.

Thanx for your responce. My father will be over on monday to help me hail some scrap away, and i'll be able to check it out some more. I do know how to use a jumper wire to read the codes on the OBD1 system. If no codes show up, then it more than likely steer me towards the fuel pump.
