99 Silverado Horn not working
I laid on my horn at some idiot in traffic the other day and halfway through the horn blow the horn got really quiet and then nothing.
Is this a common problem? Is there an easy fix or could it be a major job? Just looking for some input. Thanks |

you have 2 horns the passenger side horn is the high note, the driver side is the low note .... these horns were designed to fail.....the mod. when you replace these horns is,,, to move to a more protected area,, away from fender wall , and install a water shield on the horn face.......like insect screen.. when replacing you will have to remove the horn mounted electrical interface for car wiring connector...... |

Re: 99 Silverado Horn not working
put a test light on the connector at the horn. then hit the horn button. if it lights then you have power. simple replace the horn. if it does not light then you need to find the horn relay. check and see if it is working. if not then replace the relay. if you have a budy with the same type of truck you can swap parts around untill you find the bad part. check fuses first, you could of blown one.

Re: 99 Silverado Horn not working
In my 2002; if I lay on the horn I blow the fuse.
I keep 15A fuses in my glove box just for this reason. |

sounds like you have a short to ground in one of your horns. unplug each and test each one. |
