2000 Malibu transmission sensors

How would I get to the sensors on my transmission to replace them?

My car will not shift from 2nd to 3rd to 4th anymore. I drive, and the car goes from 1st to 2nd, and THAT'S IT! What could this be?

To get to the solenoids, you need to take the side cover off. Easiest way is to remove the transmission, it can be done in the vehicle.
If it will shift manual 1 st, 2 nd, 3rd, it would be electrical.

Re: 2000 Malibu transmission sensors

So, if it is not shifting right manually, the trans is shot? I read elsewheres that the speed sensor/solenoid is shot and needs to be replaced. Other autos are saying theirs are not shifting from 3rd to 4th, and they replaced that, and problem solved!

I have been driving mine for a while like this, as I don't have the money for a new tranny!

THANKS!!!

Have some one put a transmission capable scanner on it, and see what really is going on.
