Re: buying car choice between 2, which is more modified

OK. this is actually a good question.

Car#1 will be faster in a quarter mile and probably in general. However you wanna make sure that whoever built the engine isnt a retard so it doesnt fall apart. If it was done right it damn near bullet-proof.

#2 will put down more hp and tq. But Id be wary of an ls/vtec that you havent built or seen built personally. PLUS a turbo on the stock internals, I see a time bomb. Also a stage 1 clutch (basically OEM replacement) wont hold the 300~hp and 200-250 lbft tq that this engine is probably putting out. In all I dont see it living much longer unless it has one hell of a tune. Now if the internals are built then hell yeah..it can handle that and then some.

The first one is gonna be ALOT louder.

Re: buying car choice between 2, which is more modified

you have to assume that modified cars have been beat to hell so you have to do a very thorough check...the first i'd be hesitant b/c of the n20...how many times has he sprayed and where did he get the car tuned at, and i agree with Frodo on the second...buying a modified car is a risk, but if it was done right, you've save a lot of time and $$$...and one more thing, if these engines aren't in their original cars, make sure you get the receits and whant not when you buy the car, can save you some trouble in the future

Ah I guess I missed the nitrous. yeah find out how big of a shot and how often. Would probably still be better than a stock block with a turbo but at 11.5:1 I dunno.. that a high compression for nitrous.

i asked him and he responded

"It's only a 50 shot.. and yes I did use it a few times when adjusting the timing but the bottle is empty and I have yet to refill it. No it's not the original engine"

Re: buying car choice between 2, which is more modified

i'd say they may get close to the same mpg...as far as the engine goes, ask if he has receits...if it's a jdm engine then i wouldn't worry about it b/c i don't think you can trace those engines once they've been bought to the US..but if it's a USDM engine you deffiently need receits...depending on your area, police are cracking down hard on stolen car parts
