need some advice

Im really new to customizing my car, I have a 2002 zx2. What would you recommend I start with? Im looking for a little bit of guidance, as I dont know a WHOLE lot about whats under the hood..

I believe the engine to be of Mazda parentage. Might check with Mazada.
