[Cracks knuckles...]

WRX Wagons are awesome.
I have one and I don't regret getting it. SRT's are a bit faster, buuuut they are garbage as far quality. My friend Tyrone blew his tranny twice in 4 months. They are just a Neon with some different parts. The interior quality is rental at best. SRTs also suffer from poor traction and a sorry 2nd gear.

WRX wagons are great. They for one, are all wheel drive. I took mine off roading and it acted like a champ. They are very stable. The boxer motor will take anything you throw at it, and has endless upgrades. The boxer motor also sounds terrific. The back seats fold down and create tons of room. The car is a great sleeper because nobody ever expects a wagon to haul ass.

If you can afford it get a 05 or newer. They have the STi style front seat (In black) and they have a litter bit better center console and gauge cluster. Most of them have automatic climate control. I believe the 05 and newer have a better tranny (MT) as well. The car get 21-24 mpg depending on how you drive. The WRX will also let you shift at about 2k without complaining, so it's easy to drive conservative.

The WRX has a far superior crash safety rating to the Neon. The 04 and up came with curtain side airbags. Overall the WRX Wagon (Or WRX in general) is a much more well refined car than the SRT, and will out handle the SRT as well. Another cool thing about Imprezas' in general is that they do not have a window frame, I can't think of any other 4 doors that have that.

The wagon has a pretty good following, here is 700+ pages of why Wagons kick ass: http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show...36817&page=716

Join NASIOC.COM, you will find much much better resources there. My screen name over there is WRX_WGN so hit me up.

Re: I am considering a Wagon

More info:

I think they also stopped production on the Neon in 05'. The WRX maintained the samebody from '02-'07. They changed the front 3 time. 02-03, was the round headlight AKA "Bug-eye", '04-'05 carried the more oblong headlight style, and the '06-'07 has the eagle eye style headlights. Also in '06 the WRX motor jumped from 2.0l to a 2.5l and eeked from 227 hp to 230 hp, with torque shifting from 217 to 235.

The seats in the 2002-2003 are 3 peice (base/back/headrest) and the 04-07 are 2 peice like the STi.

Sedans weigh about 80 lbs less than the Wagon. but . The sedan has a small trunk and a few inches less in rear passenger foot room as well. Also the back seats in the sedan do not fold down like the ones in the wagon.
Sedans have a 20 mm wider wheel track than the wagon, but that can be easily overcome with spacers.

If you want utility+speed then the wagon is right for you.

Go drive a WRX (wagons are cooler ) and see if you like it, I think you will be pleasanty supprised.

Re: I am considering a Wagon

Actually, the previous body style for the overall body was from '01 to '07, it was only available in the USA from '02 to '07 though.

As for the aftermarket with the wagon, most of the WRX stuff will fit with the exception of suspension but there is plenty of aftermarket available for the suspension alone.
Whiteline, Perrin, Tein and Eibach all make wagon specific suspension components - there are more out there but those are off the top of my head.

I'm on Nasioc too and as Stevo says, there's a ton of helpful folks over there.

Re: I am considering a Wagon

Get an 06-07. The 2.5L rocks. And definitely check out nasioc.
