1992 Civic SI
hello im new and im sure these questions have been asked before but.. =/
i just got my first car , its a 92 civic SI, all stock. My parents bought the car in 92 brand new, and we took it to *sigh* maine, anyways the exhaust pipe from about the header down is next to gone.. rusted out =( so i was thinking about gettin an exhaust system, but im not to sure wich one, i was hoping that you guys could name some good ones that youve seen/used/know of . i plan on doing the install myself from what ive read there pretty simple to install right .and my other question is about VTEC, from what ive asked and seen my car seems to have VTEC , but someone said " on the intakes only" so i was thinking about getting a DOHC VTEC, but once again i dont know wich year/series will has that and will fit in a 92 civic if you guys could help me in anyway i would apericate it thank you |

VTEC just changes the timing of the engine. The intake has nothing to do with it. You might hear it a little better with an intake, but an intake doesn't magically add VTEC.
If you are interested in swapping a DOHC VTEC, do a search or read through the FAQ's. The question has been answered MANY times. Pretty much anything you want to know is in the FAQ's ![]() As far as exhaust system goes, if you need headers, DC Sports make good ones. Might as well get a new cat converter while you're at it. Catco makes good ones from what I hear. Those are high flow too. For exahust, Greddy, DC Sports, Tanabe, Thermal, and APEXi are some poplular ones. If everything is rusted out, you might need to take it somewhere to get the front pipes replaced since most all aftermarket systems are cat-back. |
